I decided to make a blog that I could use to talk about religious things separate from my corgi/Disney addiction.

  • Question: Have you even read the bible? How can you say you don't believe God exists if you've never read the bible? - Anonymous
  • Answer:

Whoa… I’d love to respond to the first question but you seem to have answered it for me in the second question.

No I have not read the bible in it’s entirety before. I’ve had to read several different parts of it as an assignment from school or what not… I also had a children’s bible when I was little that was no doubt a gift from my mother’s parents, but it left out many things and simplified everything so they wouldn’t make it so large and they could put pretty pictures of smiling animals in it.

No I don’t believe in the Christian god, Allah, or any religious deity. It’s not something where I was rebelling or anything. I’ve never believed in a supreme being because I was always raised to ask for evidence and not believe anything until it’s been proven to me. In that sense, it’s actually quite easy to say I don’t believe in God without having read the bible. I have never been shown any proof that this being exists or had any hand in what I see in the world around me.

I have an idea for what I’m going to use as my icon and stuff like that but I’m probably going to wait until Monday to do it. I’m working without a lot of equipment.

If you have questions for me, mostly pertaining to religion/atheism, feel free to drop me an ask!

We are not all the same.  —RobertLovesPi

THANK YOU!!! We are unified only by our lack of belief in deities.  Any other similarities are merely coincidental.  There is no typical atheist.  If one exists, I can promise that I am not it.  We don’t all agree, we’re not all friends, and that’s perfectly fine with me.  That’s just a reality of life, not changed by religious beliefs or the lack of religious beliefs.
The same applies for theists.  We cannot wrap them all in the same blanket.  I was a Christian for many years and I guarantee you that I was far from the typical Christian either.  I know many theists that run the full spectrum from liberal inclusiveness, to fundamental hate mongers.
Bottom line for me is there are people, both religious and not, that I’d not want to associate with because of who they are as individuals.  However we must all coexists so for that I will acknowledge our differences and choose my friends and associates accordingly.  ~ Kim
